Is the job applicant smarter, more experienced or skilled in some way than you or the people already on your team? I hope so, and you should too. Here’s why…
The backstory:
I was listening to an interview with Alex Hormozi (Acquisition.com) and he was sharing his opinion about hiring.
He said, “Every hire should raise the bar of the team.”
He also shared an observation that most people hire “1 step down” instead of “1 step up” so they don’t feel threatened or intimidated. Job security is a priority.
Fives hire fours. Fours hire threes… and so forth. The bar of the team, predictably, goes lower and lower.
In a lot of cases, I think he’s right.
