An HR lesson… from a bowling alley?
The place was PACKED. But, why?
Was it because the food is good and their staff is friendly (Keglers – Derby, KS)?
(It was and they were.)
Was it because the new owner, Brent Bowers (as of January), is an experienced and passionate bowler who has bowled a perfect 300 game and was a collegiate bowler at Wichita State (who holds a record of 24 national team championships)?
(He is and he did.)
Maybe… but, here’s what stood out MOST to me.
An average bowling alley says, “We have bowling leagues.” (And, the focus is on what THEY do… the product or service.)
An exceptional bowling alley says, “Get time with your friends.” (And, the focus is on what YOU get… the customer experience.)
When YOUR company is recruiting, where is YOUR focus?
Is it on what your company, product or service can do?
Or, is it focused on what you can do for your applicants and the employee experience?
